Hosting Responsibilities

Interested in hosting an OATS tournament? Needing something to highlight during budget discussions with your university, college, or institution? See if hosting an OATS tournament is right for you!

Required Commitments

Anyone wishing to “host” an OATS tournament needs to provide the following

º** 15-25 clean, hired judges available to judge preliminary rounds between Tuesday at 10 a.m. CST through Thursday at 4 p.m. CST and final round(s) between Thursday at 5 p.m. CST through Friday at 2 p.m. CST

** 4-6 “oh no” judges available to pick up emergency rounds from 2-4 p.m. on Friday afternoon

** Each judge name must be accompanied by judge email address, payment method (Venmo, PayPal, or address for where to send check), and any blocks for individual competitors or teams

Optional Commitments

Anyone wishing to “host” an OATS tournament may choose to provide

** A unique theme to your hosted event (e.g., Seton Hall and OATS; AnecdtOATS; Whatever Floats your OATS)

** Fun, engaging events throughout the week to build community (e.g., drawings; team activities; playlists; shared experiences; fundraising opportunities)

** Alternative awards (e.g., alternative social media images (see tournament invite for more details); mailed certificates; charity donations)

** Experimental events are fun ways to get students to engage differently. Music Interp, Radio, there’s so many different ways to have fun in speech. Go wild and give students a unique learning opportunity!
